The Pacers have an opportunity to close out their series with the Cleveland Cavaliers in tonight’s Game 5. The Pacers have taken advantage of a banged up Cavs roster but have also risen to the challenge of taking on the top-seeded Cavs. Head coach Rick Carlisle joined us this morning to discuss tonight’s potential close out game as well as Bennedict Mathurin’s ejection in Game 4.
Close out games are really hard. To be able to do it, you have to be at your absolute best. We will need to do that tonight. The way we came at them in Game 4, they are going to come at us tonight so we have to be ready.” – Rick Carlisle on tonight’s potential close out game against the Cavaliers
Carlisle also discussed the development of Myles Turner and what his initial impressions were of him even before he became the Pacers head coach. Carlisle also didn’t mince words when it came to Bennedict Mathurin getting ejected in Sunday’s Game 4.
I talked to him yesterday. It’s a mistake he’ll learn from. He’s got to be ready for tonight and we’ve got his back. When he checks in tonight there will be a lot of noise. Everybody makes mistakes but it’s a great learning opportunity and he’s really important to us and we need to move forward.” – Rick Carlisle on what he told Bennedict Mathurin following his ejection in Game 4
