The Colts tight end room got a major upgrade in the 1st-round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Tyler Warren, the star tight end out of Penn State, fell to the 14th overall pick, where the Colts were waiting with open arms. The 6ft 5in, 256 lb. winner of the 2024 John Mackey Award should provide an immediate boost to a position group that gave the Colts very little production in 2024. He also is a strong blocker, which will fit nicely into the Colts run-heavy offense that will feature Jonathan Taylor and (presumably) Anthony Richardson.

During the Monday edition of The Ride With JMV, the man who coach Warren at Penn State, tight ends coach and co-offensive coordinator Ty Howle joined the show, where he spoke about the standout traits that Warren possesses.

I think his physicality across the board in the run and pass game is the thing that sticks out to me, and then his competitive drive. He’s a super competitive guy, wants to win, do whatever the team needs. I think he said in an interview, he doesn’t care if he has zero catches or ten catches, ultimately it looks different every week in what the team needs him to do, and he’s all bought in on that, and he’s been that way since I got him [when] he got here as a freshman.”
