Colts Round 7, Pick 232: Wisconsin Linebacker Hunter Wohler
Colts Round 7, Pick 232 Recap: Wisconsin Linebacker Hunter Wohler

INDIANAPOLIS – The Colts ended their 2025 draft with a position change at an area of need.
With the 232nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Colts took Wisconsin linebacker Hunter Wohler in Round Seven.
Here are 3 takeaways on Wohler:
Chris Ballard’s Alma Mater
Chris Ballard went back to his own college with his 8th and final pick in 2025. Wisconsin safety/linebacker Hunter Wohler (6-2, 213) was quite a productive tackler for his home state school. In starting 25 games for the Badgers, Wohler led the Badgers in tackles each of the last two years, including some punt return duties. Ballard offered up the NFL comp of Daniel Sorenson in describing Wohler transitioning to the NFL.
Position Change Coming
Like Jaylon Carlies on Day 3 last year, it sounds like Wohler will make the transition from college strong safety to linebacker in the NFL. Under new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, the Colts are likely to play more sub packages though, so Wohler could have a role as a DB, when box duties are needed on passing downs. Wohler offering a presence on special teams will certainly be key as well, as the Colts are going to be replacing snaps there, too.
Linebacker Needed Help
You could make an argument that there’s no more uncertain position on the roster right now than linebacker. Zaire Franklin is the obvious one, and I guess Jaylon Carlies coming off shoulder surgery going into his second season? The position Chris Ballard has drafted the best at in his time was going to get some attention in this draft. Although it came with the final pick of the Colts’ 8-man haul and with a position change.
