2025 NFL Draft - Round 1

The NFL Draft has arrived, and there is plenty of speculation about what the Indianapolis Colts will do with the 14th-overall pick.

The most obvious position of need for the Colts is the tight end position, and as luck would have it, there are a couple of good ones in this draft class. Now, it’s anyone’s guess if they’ll still be available when the 14th pick comes around, so could we see Chris Ballard break free from his usual mindset and move up? After being more active in free agency than usual, it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Of course, it doesn’t really matter how good your tight end is if you don’t have a competent quarterback running the offense. For the Colts, that quarterback figures to be either Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones, which on paper is not exactly an inspiring competition. The Colts could add another quarterback this weekend, but it’s hard to see anyone other than Jones or Richardson under center when Week 1 rolls around.

During the Thursday edition of The Ride With JMV, former NFL coach and current Colts radio analyst Rick Venturi joined the show and gave his thoughts on the Colts upcoming quarterback battle. He also gave a deep dive into the Colts plans for the NFL Draft! Check out that conversation below and tune into The Ride With JMV weekdays from 3-6pm on 93.5/1097.5 The Fan!
