INDIANAPOLIS–The starters for the Indianapolis Colts will play in their first preseason game Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

“The starters will play a series or two. Then we’ll get the young guys in there and get them an opportunity. There might be one or two that won’t be out there, but most of them will go,” said Colts Head Coach Shane Steichen to reporters on Friday.

Steichen says he wants to see positive results.

“Just execution at a high level. Go out there and have a good first drive. Let’s try and score a touchdown on the first drive and have no mental errors,” said Steichen.

Steichen is excited to see quarterback Anthony Richardson back out there.  He missed most of last season after having surgery to repair a shoulder sprain.

“I can’t wait. I’m happy for him. It’s been a long process for him as he goes through his rehab, but he’s attacked it the right way. Getting him out there on Sunday with the guys is going to be awesome,” said Steichen.

Richardson says he’s been working on a variety of things.

“Just working on my leadership skills, my accuracy, mental sharpness. I could give you a whole list man. I just want to get out there and continue to improve,” said Richardson.

Last year, Richardson became the first rookie in NFL history to score a rushing touchdown in each of his first three starts.

Sunday’s game against Denver begins at 1 pm
